WE NOW HAVE OUR OWN BAR AGAIN

In our last news letter, we mentioned that, since the beginning of the season, we now have a new long term home at “The Springbok”. As also mentioned the pub is ‘home’ fans only on matchdays. We are sure that many of you have tried it already and are flocking back , game after game. For those of you that haven’t yet, we recommend it heartily – it’s brilliant and has a real “matchday” atmosphere!! For those of you that already have, you’ll know what we mean.

What we are now pleased to advise you all of is the fact that the LSA bar, situated in the basement of “The Springbok”, has now been completed – bar the TV screens which will be in place by the Burnley game. It will be opening for the first time at the home game V Birmingham City on Tuesday 28th October and for all home games after that. As promised this bar WILL be discounted.

The LSA committee would like to say a big thank you to Andrew and to all involved at the Springbok for making this happen, for making the LSA so welcome and for creating a ‘special’ pub to all QPR fans on match days.

The LSA committee would also like our members to know that entry to our bar will be on production of membership cards only. The local authority granted the licence on these grounds. Very much like a private club. The licence could be revoked if we don’t comply with this rule.

MEMBERSHIP CARDS MUST BE PRODUCED AT THE DOOR TO GET IN!

No card = no entry.

Please remember to bring your membership cards to all home games.

For memberships please contact Mark Dunbar through the LSA site, qprmark@fsmail.net , by phone 01376 519084 or 07737 579328 or write to:-

Memberships will also be available match days @ the Springbok.

Jnr/OAP = £2.50
Life Membership at a one off cost of £50
we also offer a special family membership ( 2 adults + 2 children ) at £10.

Any questions/queries please contact Mark.

WE ARE HAVING A PARTY TO CELEBRATE

To celebrate our new bar, we are planning a social night after a game, at the LSA bar after the Burnley game (15th Nov). There will be an all you can eat buffet and disco etc. Come along and celebrate with us!! Entrance will be by ticket only and tickets at £10 adults, £5 for children, will be available from any committee member at The Springbok on match days or by post via Mark Dunbar ( details above ), cheques made payable to QPRLSA, or via the paypal link on the membership page ( stating LSA social evening ).

Please contact any committee member for any questions you may have.

LSA Statement

The QPR Loyal Supporters’ Association is dismayed and disgusted at the latest price increases for match day tickets. Many fans who were unable to afford to purchase season tickets due to the 50% plus increase in prices, now will be unable to afford a match day ticket. Is it a conscious policy to price out long standing loyal fans and replace them with a more well off section of ‘fans’.

The LSA stands against all forms of discrimination, including discrimination on economic grounds. We feel the club is excluding a section of our fans who are no longer able to pay the very high prices asked. It may also be a very short sighted policy, given that the economy is in recession, people are losing their jobs and inflation is rocketing. People may make the choice in these hard times to stop paying high prices to watch a live match.

We in the LSA came into existence to offer an independent voice for QPR fans and to protect and safeguard our beloved club. When the club was in dire straits we along with others organised collections and sponsored events, we even raised money to pay for a player. We welcome the fact that the club is safe financially and we are confident that there will be success on the field, but we want all the QPR family to be able to enjoy that success.

What is Queens Park Rangers? we believe it is ultimately the fans who make up the club, if we lose our loyal fan base, we lose the heart and soul of our club.

We urge fans to write letters of protest to the club, we also urge fans to peacefully demonstrate outside the main entrance in South Africa Road after the Derby County game.

But get behind the R’s and let us cheer them on to promotion.

SPECIAL NEWS ANNOUNCEMENT LSA NEW HOME

Sunday, July 20th, 2008 Posted in News

The LSA Committee are very pleased to announce to all our members that we have secured a new long term home.

After a period of ‘wandering’ from pub to pub, with an uncertainty if home will be home after the next manager moves in or pubs that only wanted our money without really caring to make us feel at home, we can now put that all in the past.

The Springbok pub is under new ownership and is being transformed into a QPR pub. It will be home fans only on match days.
The new gaffer ( Andrew ) was very keen to offer the LSA a new home for the long term and to help the LSA grow and prosper.

Although at the present time, much work is needed to be carried out on what will be our club house, it is hopped that it will be ready for use part way into this season.
Once complete, we will have the cellar bar. It will be LSA only and have it’s own entrance separate from the the rest of the pub. We will have two bar staff to run our bar and a discounted bar tariff. This will also be our pick up point for away coach travel and be used for future LSA functions.

Both Bill and myself met with Andrew a couple of weeks ago in the Springbok and we were both very impressed with his commitment and ideas for the new LSA club house and for transforming the pub back to a ‘proper’ QPR pub. The pub it’s self is now unrecognisable inside to how it was. The work is still ongoing but it is already vastly improved.

From the start of this new season the LSA will temporarily be using the back bar, this will not be solely for our use but we will have a table where we can sort out memberships ect, until our bar is complete.

The LSA would like to thank Andrew for giving us a new home and we look forward to a long and prosperous association with the Springbok.

Paul Gooch Funeral

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008 Posted in News

The funeral of Paul Gooch, who sadly passed away after the West Brom game at the end of last season will be on Wed 9th July, 3pm at Mortlake. Paul, who was a past committee member of the LSA sadly has no next of kin and there will be a good turn out from the LSA and other supporters/groups who remember Paul from QPR.

RIP
